The Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna fulfills the legal deposit obligations required by the regulations on legal deposit of documents of cultural interest intended for public use (Law No. 106/2004 and implementing Presidential Decree No. 252/2006) through the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze (BCNF) and Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma (BCNR).
Legal deposit of documents ensures collection, permanent preservation and accessibility in compliance with intellectual property constraints of publishing products.
Since 2004, an agreement has been in place with the National Central Library of Florence for the legal deposit of electronic and multimedia publications edited through AlmaDL services. The Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, in fact, is among the first publishers to join the Magazzini Digitali experimental project.
