The University of Bologna, since 2009, provides DigiTocs, a service dedicated to online consultation of indexes, summaries and additional pages of documents catalogued by the OPAC of the Catalogue of the Bolognese Pole of the National Library Service.

DigiTocs is based on a management organisation distributed among the University libraries. Each library's information page indicates whether or not it subscribes to the service.

The Athenaeum libraries that adhere to the service take care of the digitisation and uploading of OCR-derived pages and text files (complete with metadata) onto the Digitocs platform, enriching the information of the catalogued documents.

The web platform is in fact integrated with the OPAC and is centralised for the processing of digitised materials.

The service is aimed at Catalogue users and allows them to:

  • view the digitised version of indexes and summaries, where present, directly from the OPAC files;
  • perform a text search within the digitised pages, through a special field on the OPAC home page;
  • retrieve information from the digitised pages through the advanced search mask of the new SebinaYOU OPAC.

 

AlmaDL offers support in particular for:

  • access and technical support to the platform;
  • training for DigiTocs operators;
  • corrections and changes to material already published.
