Since 2016, the University of Bologna has been providing qualified personnel and the technological infrastructure for the collection, storage and dissemination of research data through the institutional repository AMS Acta.

The service allows for the self-archiving of research data of University of Bologna lecturers, researchers, research fellows, PhD students and students, in compliance with the “University Policy for Open Access to Publications and Research Data” and the “University Policy for Research Data Management”.

Research data deposited in AMS Acta are managed in compliance with FAIR principles and standard national and international guidelines, are described through standard metadata(Dublin Core and Datacite) and are persistently identified through a DOI.

The archive complies with international standards for interoperability and metadata transmission, is registered in the re3data data repository catalogue and is integrated and indexed by the main catalogues (OpenAIRE, BASE, WorldCat) and search engines (Google, Google Scholar).

AMS Acta guarantees different levels of access (open, embargoed, closed) and implements licences that favour the discovery, study and sharing of research data, including Creative Commons licences.

The service ensures the preservation and accessibility of deposited data over time and provides access and download statistics.

Research data deposited in AMS Acta must be complete, documented and saved in standard, preferably open formats.

AlmaDL offers support in particular for:

  • deposit and self-archiving of research data
  • assistance in compiling the documentation associated with the data (README file), a template of which is made available;
  • formal review (metadata, file format, organisation of files and folders, README file);
  • presentation of the archive and support service.
