The rules in the Ministerial Decree of 2 March and of Decree-law 13 March 2021 apply until 6 April 2021, unless further amendments are issued in response to the evolving situation.

The Regional Decree of 3 March applies from 4 March to 21 March 2021.

The University’s library services are considered essential in supporting teaching and research activities and the right to higher education.

Opening Hours and Users

In compliance with the above-mentioned regulations and following the classification of the metropolitan city of Bologna and other areas in the region, as Red Zones to respond to the evolving health emergency, from the week commencing 8 March, library services and opening hours have been amended as follows:

  • services offered to external users are suspended
  • libraries are open only to internal users (students, teachers, fellow researchers, specialisation school students, scholarship holders, contract workers, PhD students, administrative staff)
  • library opening hours include mornings (indicatively 9.00 - 14.00) from Monday to Friday, and up to two afternoons per week (until no later than 19.00)
  • some libraries continue to be open on Saturday morning
  • Sunday all libraries are closed.

Loan periods are extended until the end of the service suspension period; therefore, external users will not incur penalties for late returns until after the services resume.

For further information about opening hours and accessing areas and services, please refer to the website of the relevant library.
