Opening hours and users
The Libraries’ services are available to all users, including non-University users.
Access to the Libraries, as well as to other university buildings, is only permitted to those who have a valid EU Digital COVID Certificate (“Green Pass”) or an equivalent certificate, except for those exempted who must have a suitable medical certificate.
Libraries that have a return desk or return box at the entrance of the facility can also allow users who do not have the above-mentioned COVID certificate to return books/CDs/DVDs only.

Accessing services
- Loaning and returning documents
Loan and return services are provided without booking. Facilities, dates, opening hours and access methods are published on the websites of the individual libraries. - Requesting and renewing loans
Loans should preferably be requested and, if necessary, renewed remotely (via phone, e-mail or via the online services of the library’s catalogue). - On-site consultation and reading
On-site consultation and reading is now possible in certain areas and under conditions that ensure safety and interpersonal distancing, in accordance with the current guidelines. Facilities, dates, opening hours and access methods are published on the websites of the individual libraries.
The “Consegne Etiche” experimental service
As of 7 September 2021, the experimental service “Consegne Etiche” (Ethical Deliveries) started, which offers library loans with home delivery and collection of books from the University’s libraries. The service is intended for university users (students, teachers and professional staff) with mobility issues, even temporary, who are resident or domiciled in the Municipality of Bologna.
