Since 2006, the University of Bologna has provided qualified staff and the technological infrastructure for the online publication of scientific Open Access journals through the AlmaDL Journals service.
The service is dedicated to peer-reviewed journals owned by Departments, Centres or Other Structures of the University of Bologna or owned by entities, associations, organisations, foundations or other organisations acting in the field of scientific research with which a publishing agreement has been concluded. It is aimed both at newly founded publishing initiatives and at journals already published in digital or printed form.
AlmaDL Journals guarantees secure and reliable access to journals, ensures permanent online tracking, retrieval and citability by assigning persistent identifiers to articles. An agreement with the National Central Libraries of Florence and Rome guarantees legal deposit and long-term preservation.
AlmaDL manages the technological platform for publication and editorial management and supports editorial offices by providing them with assistance, services and tools that contribute to increasing the quality and impact of the journals.
Some of the journals published through AlmaDL Journals have obtained 'class A' classification by ANVUR and inclusion in the bibliometric databases SCOPUS and Web of Science.
The general characteristics and modalities of the service are described in the Terms and Conditions of use of the AlmaDL Journals service [.pdf 240 KB].
AlmaDL offers support, in particular for:
