What is Proxy on the fly and when to use it
Sometimes you may find an online resource of your interest but you are not authenticated through EZproxy, which means that you are unable to download the full text.
With "Proxy on the fly" you can solve the problem with just one click!
"Proxy on the fly" works from the desktop in two ways, either by adding a bookmarklet to your favourites bar or by pinning an extension to the toolbar if your browser allows it. Follow the instructions below:
1) Bookmarklet in the favourites bar
Activate the favourites bar on your browser and enable the Javascript (How to enable Javascript on your browser). Drag and drop the Proxy on the fly bookmarklet to your bookmarks bar. When you need to reload the web page via EZproxy, just click the bookmarklet in the favourites bar; you will then be asked to enter your institutional credentials.
2) Extensions in the toolbar
Download the extension depending on the browser you use and configure it by adding the url https://www.ezproxy.unibo.it/login?url=$@ (see attached tutorials)
- Chrome: EZproxy Redirect
- Firefox: EZProxy Redirect Foxified
When you need to reload the web page via EZproxy, just click the extension in the toolbar; you will then be asked to enter your institutional credentials.
