Mostly through national negotiations coordinated by the CARE-CRUI consortium, the University of Bologna has signed several agreements with major national and international publishers that allow authors affiliated with the University to benefit from favorable conditions when publishing in Open Access, such as:
- Transformative Agreements: this type of agreement covers the subscription fees for accessing the journals of a specific publisher and the fees for publishing in Open Access at no additional costs to the authors
- Green Open Access clauses: both transformative and traditional agreements include a specific Green Open Access clause which generally grants more favorable conditions than standard clauses offered by individual journals
- Gold Open Access publishing incentives: for both transformative and traditional agreements signed with publishers, authors benefit from incentives for the article processing charges (APCs) when publishing in Open Access.
